It's hard to say what the best thing about technology is...

...the way it lets you see and talk to people hundreds of miles away? Shopping without leaving home? The mind-boggling amount of information you can find on the web?

On the other hand, it's pretty easy to say what the worst thing is. For me, there's no doubt: it's the scammers, crooks and con-men out there, trying to use it to steal your money, your identity, or simply mess up your devices to cause havoc.

It doesn't need to be like this - you could be safe online...
Once you know how, you can keep yourself well protected from the bad guys. You just need to know how. That's why we've sat down and recorded this short course that makes protecting yourself online easy.

With a bit of help from the rest of us, Kathryn has put together a course that tells you exactly what you need to know to keep yourself safe, whether you use it on a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. The course covers everything from email scams to anti-virus to two-factor authentication (not as techy as it sounds!).

If you want using the internet to be safer - to keep yourself protected - then I think you'll find this is exactly what you need.

Kathryn graduated from Leeds University in 2016 with a BA in English & French and an MA in English Literature, and then moved up to the Lakes to write and edit books. She joined us in 2019 and has fitted right in, helping us make some very popular books and courses.

When she's not writing (or reading) books, she'd love to be lindy-hopping at a swing dance event somewhere in the north of England, or bouldering at Kendal Climbing Wall.
